Back in August, I noticed some enlarged lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. They were achy and I was exhausted. I went to the doctor...she said I had an ear infection. So, off I went with a prescription for antibiotics and figured all was well. After a month or so, the nodes were still enlarged so I went back to the doctor. She said to wait 2 more weeks and if they had not gone down to go back. We went to Orlando in September and when we got back I went back to the doctor. I was still exhausted and just didn't feel well. She said it was time to do some testing. I had blood work, which came back normal. I also had an ultrasound of my neck. She called me and said that it came back "borderline" and the radiologist recommended a CT scan of my neck. In the meantime, I got sick again. I had a fever of 102.4 for 3 days, so she gave me another round of antibiotics. Then, I had the CT scan. She called me 2 hours later saying that it showed "2 worrisome things"-enlarged supraclavicular node on the right and a possible mass behind the posterior pharynx. The radiologist recommended I see an ENT. I called Massachusetts Eye & Ear and they got me in the next day. We went to Boston and saw Dr. Lin. He recommended a fine needle biopsy and then possible surgery. I had the biopsy, which came back inconclusive. They were "pretty sure" it wasn't a highly aggressive cancer, but still wanted to remove some lymph nodes to rule-out lymphoma. I had surgery on November 30 and am happy to say they came back as "reactive nodes"...BENIGN! Dr. Lin thinks I just had some sort of virus that made my lymphatic system go haywire. I go back to see him in March.
The day of my biopsy, Anand did some work. We got onto the office and this is how he set up...His own little office. Nice. That's my husband!
