Eye Update!

Yesterday I went in for a FOLLOW-UP EYE APPOINTMENT. At my last appointment, my doctor had recommended that I wean myself off the steroid eye drops since my eye pressure was up. Since I had been on them on & off for the past year, I can see why. :) The problem is that every time I try to wean off them, my eye gets all red and starts tearing again. When I went in yesterday, sure enough-it was red and tearing again. He examined it-the pressure was the same as last time, so it hadn't gone up (good news!). He prescribed a different eye drop that will not increase pressure in my eye. There is a partial blockage over the tube (that is why it keeps getting red and tearing), so as he thought, he will have to cut that. He said he is pretty sure he can do it in the office and asked me what I thought. I don't want to feel it! He said he will be able to numb it up really well and if I feel it he can numb it some more (and worse case-he can schedule in the hospital if I'm unable to tolerate the procedure). He also prescribed some valium to take prior. He doesn't want to touch it until I return from India, so I'm scheduled for December 13. If the tube happens to come out while I'm in India, he said not to worry-he will replace it when I get back. The tube is in place, though, so it's unlikely anything will happen.
