Journey to India!

We got up bright & early...eager to start our vacation! We left for Boston at 9:00-right on schedule.
We arrived at Logan to find that the only parking available was quite far away, so we had to take the shuttle. No problem, right? Well, we had a total of 8 bags between the four of us. What can I say? I am not a light packer. :) we definitely got in a great workout pre-flight!

We got on the first flight to Frankfurt-6 hours.
Notice my clean face all ready to douse with moisturizers!

The girls did great! They loved their meals & snacks(Lufthansa service was fantastic!):

By the end of the flight, they were tired...

I picked up some magazines on the way into the flight. One thing I didn't notice...

Oops-they are in German!

We arrived in Frankfurt at 5:00 am local time and had an 8 hour layover. It actually went by pretty fast, but by the end of it we were all exhausted.

The girls had fun looking at all the stores.

German McDonalds!

This is a Barbie that Suri had...she insisted we take a picture:

This made me laugh...a smoking lounge?

They had a playground which was awesome-the girls got to burn off some energy! We also ran back & forth on the escalators.

Fifty Shades of Grey in German!!!!!

We had breakfast here. I had a veggie omelet. Very German, right?!

We slept in the airport for a few hours:

Then, before we knew it, it was time to hop on board for 8 more hours! Once on board, they handed out Indian immigration paperwork:

I made Anand complete them all :) The girls were busy watching movies:

INDIA! We arrived in Bangalore at 2:00 am local time.

My father-in-law and brother-in-law, Ramesh, picked us up. Anand & I have been married for 7 years and this was the first time we met in person! I got pretty emotional, as I had expected. My father-in-law welcomed me and told me how happy he was to have me there. He hugged the girls and you could just see sheer joy on their faces. It was a great moment!

Uncle Babu & Tata:

We got into the car and the girls were thrilled that they didn't have to buckle up! Maya has been enjoying sitting in the middle!

Once home, we met Auntie Tanuja and cousin Mounika.

They welcomed us in with a small pooja and gifts. The girls each got necklaces. Anand and I each got rings. They also gifted me with 3 sarees and 2 necklaces. I will take more photos to post. After getting settled in, I decided to take a nap. My "nap" ended up being 8 hours long! I guess jet lag had set in!

I'm going to recap day by day...
