MeHIMA Annual Meeting 2010

Sunday evening, I met up with Jen & Mike. We headed to "Cappy's Chowdah House" in Camden for dinner. We started with this:

By the way, do you like my hair? I got it cut Saturday! Back to Cappy's, we had strawberry mojitos...YUM! For dinner, I had the crabcakes on a bed of greens and with corn salsa. It was good!
The tables were covered with paper and there were crayons so Jen wrote a message for Anand:
This was the view in the restaurant:
Bears & flamingos-doesn't get better than that, right?!
The drinks came with straws that had fringe on them, so Jen decided to use them as a hairpiece:
We stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things after leaving the restaurant. I saw this wine and thought it was cute:
Drama Queen!

Monday morning was the first day of the conference. This year's theme was:
Camp MeHIMA!
The morning started out with these:
A good old Horse Race!

Here is Tami getting ready to hand out the horses!

And Jen holding onto a horse:

On your mark...get set....GO!
Clearly, I didn't win! We couldn't hold onto the horse-we had to hold them between our legs and "run" without letting it fall. My pants were slippery and the thing kept sliding!
But, the good news is that I still got a medal! Thanks Rhonda!

And so did Liz:

And Allan (even though he cheated!):
And our incoming President who I will be following around for the next year, Edie (she came in last!):
Here are Cheryl & I: We have the same boss and I told her we needed to have a picture taken as proof that we were both at the meeting!

We had some great educational sessions, and then it was break time. Every year at the annual meeting, there are pictures taken of the Past-Presidents (I will be in those pictures in 2 years!). This year, there were 5 past presidents in attendance:
Sheri, Pam, Connie, Sharon (my instructor!), and Rhonda

Rhonda & Pam:
Here is a picture of me with one of my mentors, Pam. Pam hired me fresh out of college-she gave me a chance and taught me SO much. I will be forever indebted to her. Thank you Pam!
We had more educational sessions, and then it was time for the evening's events. First up was the banquet. The room that the banquet was held in was absolutely breathtaking! It was on the summit and overlooked the ocean. GORGEOUS! And I should also note that they make an awesome margarita! They rimmed the glass with a salt & pepper mixture-sounds strange but MAN was it ever good!
We had dinner which was amazing! Then, it was time for a little meet & greet with our special guest speaker, Survivor Gabon winner Bob Crowley (from Maine!)!
Here are Cheryl & I with Bob:
Jen & Survivor Bob:
Vicki & Survivor Bob:
And he was kind enough to give us all autographed postcards! Here he is signing them:
He had his wife with him....they were an adorable couple!
Next up was the installation of officers. I don't have any pictures-I do have a video but not sure how to get that on here! There were other people taking photos so I'll get some at some point and post them. Here are the flowers...
There were 6 I believe. Each one represents a different elected Officer. Mine is the blue. I can't remember what the significance is, but will try to get it from someone.
If someone had told me that I would one day be elected President-Elect, I would have laughed! And here I stood...I couldn't believe it! What an honor-it was truly an emotional moment!

After the elected Officers were sworn in, we got to listen to Survivor Bob tell stories about his adventures on Survivor. It was really interesting!
He even brought in some artifacts that were used on the show:
After Survivor Bob, it was time to go BOWLING!!!
I put on the beloved bowling shoes. Seriously, who doesn't love bowling shoes?!
Grabbed one of these (Yum!):
GAME ON! I haven't bowled in YEARS, so didn't figure I'd do too good. I did pretty good, though! I even got some "X's" (I kept forgetting that they are called STRIKES, so I kept saying I got an X). I even got a couple "half x's"! Ha ha! You would have had to have been there! Lori knows what I'm talking about!

Mine is the "N"!
See the X?!
No rhyme or reason, I would just run and throw the ball as hard as I could! Everyone was laughing at me and thought I was going to end up in the gutter!
It was fun!
Vicki kept getting gutter balls, so I told her we could join the "GBG" club (gutter ball girl club). But then she got a strike and she was mighty happy:
Jen got pretty excited too!
Then Rhonda taught us a dance called the Cupid Shuffle! It was super fun-especially with the cool bowling shoes!

Then, it was time to go back to our cabins. I saw Jen packing up and I asked her where she was going. Well, they were shutting down-it was after 11:00! Time flies....and we had to get up the next morning for a Board of Directors meeting at 7:30...YIKES.
