ME First One Year Celebration!

On Friday morning, we had our one year ME First Celebration. It was held at the Civic Center with about 600 people attending. It was SO much fun and very inspiring! We danced, chatted with everyone, and just had a great time. Groups were encouraged to do skits, and since our group loves to have a good time, were all for it! We wanted to do a visual presentation, so decided that we would figure out how many pounds & inches we have lost as a group and bring in food & yarn to demonstrate. We also decided to donate the food to local charities. I volunteered to be the "speaker" for the group (yes, I'm an attention whore-what can I say?!). I brought the girls' red wagon on stage to wheel some of the food out. This is what I said:

"As a group of 19, we have lost a total of 484.8 pounds and 386 inches. We are each carrying 25.5 pounds of food to represent the amount of pounds we have lost as a group. This food will be donated to several local charities. The yarn is a representation of the inches we have lost as a group."

Our presentation went really well and we were all amazed at how heavy 25 lbs really is (and how much food was on the stage)!  I should also mention that we had "Brickhouse" by The Commodores playing in the background while everyone walked on stage!

Here is a link if you don't know the song:

After the presentations, all participants were invited to "Strut their Stuff". Again, me being me-I had to do it! I remember sitting in orientation last year and thinking to myself "I'm going to be on that screen next year!". And I was! YAY! They showed before & now pictures (CLICK HERE to see those) and I "strutted" across the stage. Thanks to Holly for using "Brickhouse" for me to strut to...hee hee! That was great!

Our group had decided to dress up for the occasion. There were 4 of us wearing "little black dresses", so they wanted to take a picture for a future article in the newsletter. Here we are:

Me, Cindy, Marney, and Tina

And here is Aaron hula-hooping (everyone loved this!):

And our group just chatting it up and figuring out how to do our skit:

We had so much fun and we're all really revved up for next year's celebration!
