Chicago Day Two!

Day 2 in Chicago started like this: I woke up at 3:30 am to a...you're not going to believe this...a ROOSTER! Seriously. Then, it stopped making noise so I went back to sleep. When we got up, I asked Anand if he heard a rooster. He said "um, we're in Chicago-there are no roosters". I said, "well, I know, I don't know where it was but I heard a rooster. And we are in the Midwest, right?". He started laughing hysterically and said "it was my alarm! You seriously thought there was a rooster in downtown Chicago?". Well, yes I did! Nice way to start the day, right?!

On our walk home last night, we saw a bunch of people standing around some police cars. We didn't think too much about it, but then this morning we heard on the news that they are filming a movie-Transformers 3-here!

Pretty exciting news!

I went to my meeting from 8:00-4:15. This was my first national meeting, so it was pretty exciting meeting the AHIMA officials as well as meeting delegates from every state of the country. While I was being educated on various topics, Anand slept in late, went to swim some laps & hung out in the sauna. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it, right?! When I got back to the room, we decided to head out and explore some more.

First up, we had to check out the filming action:

We got up pretty close to a smashed up vehicle!
In fact, I got a little too close (this is when the security guy had told me to go ahead):
So, I did. Then, he told me "not that close". Oops!
My first "movie set" experience! Hee hee! Wonder if they're looking for some extras?!

We saw a line of 4 buses. I swear I think they are the actors' buses!
We saw the Renaissance Hotel complete with pigeons perched on the sign:
And then we were walking and I did a double take. HOLY COW-I just saw Tina Turner! ha ha
Then, she broke out in song "We don't need another Hero"...
Love it!

And our final celebrity sighting of the day: we walked by while they were filming the ABC News :
They even waved to us! We saw this guy and 2 other newscasters. Exciting!
We went back to Harry Caray's for dinner (our waitress remembered us from yesterday!) and then headed back to the hotel. We were both T.I.R.E.D.!

Tomorrow's agenda: Leadership conference for me from 7:30-4:00. Then, we're going out to dinner with the association's President. Then, Sunday is a half day so we'll be doing some more fun stuff...stay tuned!
