Visit to the ENT

I'm beginning to think I should go on this show:

(I know that it could be MUCH worse, but I'm just kind of over it.)

After I wrote THIS POST, I was feeling so much better. The following Thursday morning, I woke up to the left side of my face completely swollen and puffy. Since it was the left side, I figured it had to be related to my eye so I called the eye surgeon. They had me go in immediately. He came in and took one look and said it was secondary to my eye and that I had a bad infection of my parotid gland. It was hot to the touch and he thought I needed IV antibiotics. He called my primary doctor, who sent me directly to the ER. They diagnosed me with Parotitis-most likely a blocked parotid gland. It somehow became blocked which led to an infection. So, first I get blocked lacrimal ducts and now blocked parotid glands?! Seriously?! The eye surgeon told me that I needed to follow-up with an ENT prior to my eye surgery. They were fantastic-they called me 3 times to find out how I was doing. I saw the ENT last week. He thinks that I have some congenital thing going on with the ducts on the left side of my face/neck-they are somehow a bit more narrow than the ones on the right. The infection appears to be gone now (on my last day of antibiotics now) and the swelling is down. He cleared me for the eye surgery (CANNOT WAIT!), so at least one part of my face will be fixed! If I get the parotid swelling again, I have to go back in and he will do something more. There are options and he has a plan in place. I feel relief that at least he has a plan and I won't have to deal with it forever. Let's hope it was a fluke and never happens again!

Eye surgery is a week from Wednesday!

Things I'm excited for: wearing eye make-up again, not having to be stocked in tissues at all times, and being able to see without a pool of tears in my eye.

So, as you can imagine, after the infection, I haven't been to the gym again and yet again I'm eating horribly. Time to get back on that train to wellness! I can do this!
