OOTD, Volunteering, Food, and Diwali!

Another rainy day out there...

This morning, I volunteered in Maya's class. I did speed tests with the kids and had a great time!

After volunteering, I had to do a return at Home Depot and pick up some Halloween make-up for the girls' show this weekend.

The rest of the day includes: pick up the girls after school and take them to dance.

Outfit details:

Brown Boots-ShoeDazzle
Skinny Jeans-Target
Royal tank & Top-Target
Blue snakeskin Scarf-Amazon
Vest-gift from Mom
Watch-gift from husband on vacation in India
Cuff-BaubleBar

Last night, I made Potato Leek soup and homemade bread:

And we lit some candles for Diwali:

Two years ago, we were in Bangalore for Diwali. It was so much fun lighting crackers and feeling the excitement in the air! Wish we could have been there this year!

Have a great day!

Doing his Civic Duty, Volunteering, Dinner, and Outfit!

Since Anand became a citizen in Friday, he is able to vote now!
Yesterday, he registered to vote and completed his absentee ballot (he will be out of state for work on Election Day). Civic duty completed!

I volunteered in Suri's class in the afternoon. I absolutely LOVE being around all those kids-they have such awesome energy and are so much fun to be around! They created insects out of lots of recyclable items-I manned the glue gun. They were all so creative!

For dinner, I threw together a homemade chicken fried rice-it was a hit (no leftovers!):

Oh, the pillow & throw came in today, so I was able to finish up the playroom/guest bed:

I LOVE the purple!

Today is a dreary, rainy day. Errands include: picking up bagels & deli meat at the local bagel shop and going to the Social Security office to change Anand's status to "citizen" (something I would have had no idea he had to do). I also have laundry on the agenda today. Fun all around 😜.

Here is today's comfy errand running outfit:

OOTD

It is nice and cool outside today-perfect Fall weather! Time to pull out the Oxblood!

Top is from Target a couple of years ago. Oxblood with faux leather detail on the pocket and a zipper on the back-love it! I layered it over a black tank.

Leggings are my favorite ever-recent from TJ Maxx.

Boots are ShoeDazzle from 2 years ago.

Monday, Monday

Good morning and Happy Monday!

I am spending today prepping for the week ahead as my infusion is confirmed for tomorrow. I am sitting in Sam's Club parking lot right now waiting for them to open. I threw a load of laundry in before dropping the girls off at school, have made a bunch of phone calls, and now figured I'd blog while waiting! I feel accomplished already! I forgot to take a picture of my outfit, but will add it when I get home. It's a leopard kind of day.

Last night, we watched out our back windows as these three beauties grazed:

Then, one came closer so we could really see her-she looks pregnant! So pretty!

I polished my nails with Essie "For The Twill of It"- it's a pretty color for fall. Never mind my not so perfect polish job. :)

I weighed in this morning-my weight stayed the same. I'm happy with that since it was the week of my "monthly visitor" and I may have eaten some emotions: infusion-related anxiety. Ugh. Anyway, today is a new day!

Have a great one!

Whole30-Day 16

Happy Pinktober! I wore my favorite new leggings and a black top, along with my pink slouchy boots from ShoeDazzle! I also added my favorite pink/purple silk scarf from India. I really need to get a big mirror in a room with better lighting. The black mark is a laundry basket that I blacked out LOL.

I had a dr appointment in the morning, then spent the day at home.

Dinner was a salmon recipe I found on a great new blog I found! It was simply a drizzle of olive oil, salt & pepper, dill, lime slices, and capers. Yum!

I roasted some carrots & broccoli to go with the salmon:

The girls & I harvested a couple of things from the garden:

We still have a bunch of San Marzano tomatoes that need to ripen-hopefully they will ripen before frost gets them!

After dinner, I helped Maya with a school project (her first!). We googled how to draw a dolphin-not too shabby, and she wrote a bunch of facts about dolphins.

wanted to do one as well-she chose Zebras:

Whole30-Day 15

Yesterday was a nice day. Got up, got the girls on the bus for school, then started my day.

Fall was in the air, so I wore tall boots and one of my new tops. Love! So comfy!

I strolled around TJ Maxx-best place to wander! I found the most perfect pair of black leggings ever for just $6.99! Insane! They are the fleeced type with a high waist-love them! Then, I went home and did some odds & ends, then it was time to pick the girls up from school. Maya had a play date with a friend and Suri had her voice/piano lesson. Suri & I went home for a bit, then headed to pick up Maya. We came home, had dinner, picked up, and before we knew it, it was time for bedtime routine. The day went by really fast.

All in all, a good day!

Whole30-Day 14 & Retail Therapy!

Two whole weeks! I can't even describe how much better I feel since I started Whole30... physically & emotionally. I am fitting so much better in my clothes now (bloat is gone!) and I look forward to getting dresses & trying on clothes. I feel more like ME!

My day started with getting these kiddos ready for school:

Then, I got myself ready:

Another indicator that I'm feeling better is my desire to shop. :) When I'm feeling better, I look forward to putting outfits together. Well, yesterday I did a bit of retail therapy. It's FALL...my favorite time of year to style outfits!

I went to Target and couldn't resist these tops:

I loved the green, so decided to try this one. It was really flattering and comfy. I picked up the black as well, and am debating if I should get more colors!

When I saw this layering cardigan, I had to have it! I just love this color (zinnia)-it screams Fall! I picked up a matching tank as well:

After I left Target, I went to Sam's to look for a rug & bedding for the playroom /guest room I painted. No luck, but I did find some cute tops!

They are a layered knit tank & overlay-love! I also got it in an orange tank & beige overlay. While typing this, I searched for them online. I found them on BonTon for $51.00. I paid $13!!! What a deal!

Fun shopping day!

Whole30-Day 9 & 9th Wedding Anniversary!

Day 9 also happened to be our 9th Wedding Anniversary!

We got the girls off to school. Suri's & my shadow played for a bit while waiting for the bus:

I had black coffee, eggs, and green pepper for breakfast. Then, Anand & I took a drive to a coastal town and had lunch. It was my first meal out since starting Whole30, so I was a bit nervous. I was a bit worried that I would be tempted by all the menu offerings, but I stuck to my plan! Grilled chicken, hard boiled egg, romaine, red cabbage, tomato, cilantro, croutons (which I pushed to the side. Not a big crouton fan anyway, thankfully). The dressing most likely had some sugar in it, but I'm not going to worry about that-I'm proud that I stuck to a salad with protein!

Here are a couple of pics of the foliage:

We got home and looked through our wedding things and watched our wedding videos with the girls.

I had an apple & cashews for a snack, then had ground turkey with eggs scrambled in for dinner.

I also got a little message from My Fitness Pal that said I have been logging meals for 10 days. Onto e double digits!

Well, hello there Kate Spade!

Kate Spade recently had an additional 20 % discount on all sale items. I browsed around and found the most adorable iPhone case. I had been looking for the perfect one since mine was looking pretty dingy. I wanted something bright and fun. This was definitely it! It makes me smile every time I look at it! It was also my first Kate Spade purchase-I just love all of the fun colors!

The bumper is bright yellow. Love it. It came with this adorable little post card:

I've also started pulling out some bright, happy spring colors! I've had enough of winter...I'm ready to put away the winter boots and pull out the cute shoes!

Target had a daily deal a while back on neon pumps. I got the blue, pink and yellow. Yesterday I wore the blue ones!

Neon Blue Pumps: Target (here)
Rock & Republic Open Work Sweater: Kohls (here)
Black Tank: not sure?
Black Skinny Pants: Target
Blue Bubble Necklace: Kohls

Marvelous in My Monday!

Can you believe it's Monday already? Time is FLYING around these parts and this post is going to be a big  ramble, so buckle up! Thanks again to Katie over at Healthy Diva Eats for starting this!

Last week was our first full week back since our India Trip (which I'm still trying to work on recap posts!) and it was a whirlwind! Getting back into our routines was a challenge, but we all survived :) Maya ended up getting sick on Friday, so I stayed home with her. That gave me a chance to get some cleaning & organizing done which was nice! Saturday was spent decorating for Christmas and a grocery shopping & Target run:

Sunday was prepping for the week, oh, and making snow angels with no snow!

All in all, a good, but busy weekend! This is what the next two weeks look like:

Tonight: Weigh-in at WW: down 26.2 so far! (post to follow)
Wednesday after work: Girls' Haircuts!! and get my license renewed at lunch
Thursday: (Hopefully) Get my Eye Fixed! and Girls' Dance Class (not sure how I'm going to manage getting them there-hoping for the best that I'm ok to drive by then!)
Friday: 6 Month follow-up Mammogram and Tap Nutcracker Rehearsal (the girls are Angels!)
Saturday: Tap Nutcracker x 2 (this will be the entire day as the girls are in both performances)
Sunday: Prep for the week!
Monday: MY BIRTHDAY :)
Thursday: Maya & Suri's 6th Birthdays! Bring cupcakes to both girls' classes. Dinner out
Friday: Christmas Party at office
Saturday: Maya & Suri Birthday Party at home!

Then, Christmas Festivities can begin! I'm tired just typing it out. Oh, and somehow I need to do some Christmas shopping. :)  In the words of my wise husband: "it will all work out"! LOL
